Bestway Ag drone team conducts search, supply drop missions in storm ravaged North Carolina
In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Bestway Ag dispatched several members of its drone team, along with aircraft and supplies, to North Carolina to aid in search-and-rescue and supply delivery operations.
“The unique capabilities of the aircraft we sell make them the perfect platform for the type of operations desperately needed in North Carolina at this time,” said Kyle Barbee, Bestway Ag drone division manager. “We have the ability and resources to help, so we jumped in. It was the right thing to do.”
Flying DJI Mavic 3T and Matrice 30T aircraft, Bestway Ag pilots use thermal sensors to locate those who may be trapped or stranded. Audio equipment attached to the aircraft allow messages to be broadcast, ensuring individuals their location has been mapped and emergency supplies will be airlifted to their location via drone. Pilots then use DJI Flycart 30, and other heavy-lift capable aircraft, to ferry in food, baby formula and water.
“Our team has been able to locate numbers survivors in the mountains around the Marion and Asheville areas,” Barbee said. “They are flying around-the-clock to render as much aid as possible in as short a time as possible.”
Bestway Ag’s team is currently operating in the Marion and Ashville, North Carolina areas. To keep up with ongoing efforts, follow Bestway Ag on Facebook @BestwayAgHQ.
